I wouldn't say that this was the greatest collection of art and sculpture EVER. After visiting the Louvre and Orsay in Paris, along with the Vatican Museums here in Rome, the four MNR museums were... okay... But as long as you know what to expect, I don't think any serious art/sculpture/museum lover would be disappointed. On the other hand, if... more

This is one of the most important museums in Rome and unfortunately not one of the most frequented. The collection is huge - infact it is housed in 4 different places - 2 are near the Termini station (Palazzo Massimo alle Terme + Terme di Diocleziano), one is near the Campidoglio (Crypta Balbi) and the other one near Piazza Navona... more

The Museum is very close to the Termini metro station, and student tickets were only 7 euros each. It is very spacious, clean, and has nearly all of the info plaques also in English. I highly recommend this museum,... more

This address is the Palazzo Massimo branch, which has an amazing collection of statues, ancient Roman coins, sarcophagi and mosaics. I have a special fondness for mosaics, and... more

This fine museum is really near the Termini, so extremely accessible (no excuses for missing it!), and if you thought that a whole lot of sculptures would be boring, then its time to think again! The exhibits are superbly presented, with descriptions in English as well as Italian, and the layout is serene and spacious. The progression from Ancient Rome... more
