The original She Wolf, Boy Extracting a Thorn, and many more beauties are in this museum. The staff that works there were very unhelpful as to how to get to the other side. Other than that, the museum was amazing!

Rome is full of history and one of the best ways to learn more of the history of Rome is to visit the Capitoline Museum. Situated within walking distance (around 7 - 8 minutes) of Vittorio Emmanuel II Monument the museum is a treasure. We had a hard time finding the museum since many local street vendors were not exactly...

The Capitoline Museum is a must for sculpture lovers, well designed, not as crowded as the Vatican Museums (and considerably less expensive. It was inspiring to see the massive equestrian sculpture of Marcus Aurelius, one of Romes great emperors (and perhaps the most frequently quoted), since we were staying in the Valle Aurelia neighborhood.
I hadn't been to the Capitoline collection for many years and was bowled over by the changes made in recent years. The tunnel between the two buildings, affording access to the Tabularium, is brilliant. A large section dedicated to findings from the Horti on the Esquiline Hill replaces a previously endless and random collection of bits of Roman statuary. I...

My 19 year old son, studying ancient history at Liverpool University, loves this place. One of the staff showed me that some exhibits have NFC chips in them and you can use NFC technology to get info about the exhibit. I also found on their website (from the NFC chip) that you can open the following link from the search...

It's down not up that we found the greatest treasure of this museum......a stunning view over the ancient forum that should not be missed. Loved that the museum was not too crowded despite having some brilliant work including Caravaggio. Third on our list of must see museums in Rome.
This is a great museum to visit in Rome.
It holds a number of fascinating artefacts that were found in Rome over two sites, as well as work form a number of artists.
The main reason for our visit was to see the statue of the She-Wolf with Romulus and Remus.
The queues to get into this museum were very...

We liked the museum ok, though I would not call it a must-see. I really have no idea about the positive reviews on the cafe. It was hands down our worst experience in Rome. Poor food (though cheap), terrible service in the self-serve cafe. We ordered 4 items, and 3 of them were incorrect. When we tried to get it...

The very beautiful Piazza del Campidoglio was designed by Michelangelo. The plaza has an equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius, which is a copy of what is in the Capitoline Museums to conserve it. The Palazzo Nuevo and the Palazzo dei Conservatori on this plaza are part of the Capitoline Museums. These museums contain some of the greatest pieces of classical...

This is a fantastic museum of mostly Roman art. There are ancient Roman sculptures and mosaics. They also have painting galley with two by Caravaggio. There is a pleasant rooftop cafe with great views of Rome. They let you photograph some things, which is fun.
