Castel Sant'Angelo used as a city fortress for Pope, located very close to Vatican City seems to be indestructable from the outside. It still has old catapult in one of the atriums, and offers yet another view of Rome from the roof top. Coming to the castle over the bridge decorated with statues of angels is memorable, indeed. The Catel Santangelo it´s famous as a fortress. If you visit inside you see the old guns and a beauty landscape of Vatican and Rome. But the bridge decorated with marble Angels statues is really a beautifull portrait of Rome. Must see !!! More

This is a lovely castle to walk by, but I have to say we did not bother to enter, as the lines were too long and the weather wasn't perfect for that.
