There is not too much to see in the castle itself but the view you have from the top terrasse that leads 360 degrees around are wonderful and well worth the few Euros! You have a beautiful view of the Vatikan, St. Peters Dome and the bridge leading to the castle and if you want to you can sit in... more

Considering its age, this place is incredible condition. Very good to wander around and peaceful after the crowds in the centre. If you can, take a book with a map of the interior/information with you as you are not given one at the entrance. more

The Castel San Angelo is far less crowded than the other ancient roman sites in the city. It provides a wonderful opportunity to see a well maintained ruin with far fewer people around. Also a handy walk from the Vaticon. Love the views of the river from the top of the castle. more

The outside of the castle is outstanding and does not do the inside justice. The history and the architecture are amazing. Two things not to miss; the views from the top and the secret tunnel below. The tunnel is only open about once a year, so plan ahead. more

After completing a tour of the Vatican we took a short walk over to the Castle Saint Angelo. This was an unplanned stop on our trip, but we enjoyed the visit. We happened to walk here when we saw the long lines at the Vatican. We purchased the audio guide, which is well worth the price. The photos we took from here are some of the best we took on our trip. I don't think anybody would be diappointed by spending a few hours here. more

The bar/coffee shop at the top has wonderful views over rome and you don't have to queue unlike the dome of St. Peter's. there is also one table with a perfect view of St Peter's and the piazza. more

The Castel Sant' Angelo is just a few minutes away from the Vatican. This is worth walking through and looking around. I've never been in an old castle, I'm so glad I didn't miss this experience. The view is amazing from the top! more
