This is a large Roman church in Rome. It is quite hidden and it comes to a surprise when you find it suddenly in view. The church is large and the main attractions are the chains that are attributed to have kept St Peter chained and the beautiful Moses carved by Caravaggio for the tomb of the Pope Julius II.... more
We visited 16th December 2006.I visited here 20years ago and it left a lasting impression.I then saw Mother Teressa recieving a blessing at a well attended service ( cardinals and more ).The Michael Angelo Moses statue alone is worth the visit.There is a facility at the side to light it if you look. San Pietro in Vincoli was a good place to visit if you have the time. Not a primary attraction to see but definitely worth seeing on your third or fourth day in Rome. The chains display was moving and Michelangelo's Moses was wonderful (though pretty far away), just don't expect Charleton Heston. :) The church is closed from noon to... more
