This church is a little out of the way, but easy to get to from the coliseum. It does not look like your tipical church, but it houses a magnificent gem. Michelangelo's Moses. It is surprisingly close and rather unprotected (after seeing La Pieta behind some serious glass...). You can take pictures inside. The place is a little dark so... More

In this hidden corner of the city, you find the spectacular marble statue of MOSES and also the chains of Peter prision in Rome. Not many people knows it and then never is crowded. It´s a treasure for a few ! More

This lovely Church is a little off the beaten path, but not far from the Colloseum. Be sure to stop in to see Michaelangelo's Moses and the chain that bound him. As always, read up a little about your visit so you will enoy it more. More

When first visiting this minor basilica...from the outside it doesn't look like much...however, once inside you are amazed by the gorgeous frescoed ceiling. Then if that wasn't enough, you become speechless when you see Michelangelo's Moses - How did he make something so moving ...out of something so cold as marble? WOW More

It is on a fantastic site built above the old Rome, as most buildings are. There were many visitors from all over the world, and I was impressed by its cleanliness. The tomb of St Peter is there with its impressive wooden pillars, beautifully carved. There are several small chapels if you want to say a prayer or light a... More

We stumbled upon this small church that houses the chains that bound St. Peter in Palestine(or so they say). The highlight of this church is the marble statue of Moses by Michelangelo. He was commissioned to sculpt it for a former pope who is buried here. Make sure you put in a euro coin to light the statue up. The... More

People rave over Michelangelo's David, but look at what he did after painting the Sistine Ceiling! Moses is more complex. He's part of the scaled down tomb for Pope Julius II, who actually is buried at St. Peter's! Other important people are buried here and honored with monuments: Nicholas of Cusa and the sculptors named Pollaiuolo from Florence. Church can... More
