I visited Roma several times but it was the first time i visited the Basilica di San Clement. When you enter this church you are not prepared to see what you see: You have there three levels of buildings discovered by a monk who decided to fix some tub by himself. It's worth a visit to this unexpected place. More

We really enjoyed seeing the three different churches that are literally on top of one another. However, we got there just before noon and only had about 40 minutes before it closed for 3 hours. We needed at least an hour to really see all three churches. They did validate our ticket so that we could come back after 3:30pm... More

From the bit we got to see if this church it was very charming. Unfortunately mass was ongoing so we were unable to see a lot of it. Word of advice the entrance is on a small almost alley like street and the homeless pretend to be affiliated with the church and ask for a donation to enter. More

A little quaint and very old church. Make sure you go to the archeo dig, all the way down. More

The most interesting feature of the Basilica San Clemente is the underground area. Apart from the crypt there are the remains of a Roman house and also a Mithraeum, both of which are well preserved and present something a bit different to the Rome tourist. No photos are allowed, and this is quite striuctly monitored More

I went to most of the top churches in Rome and this one is one of the most interesting. The mosaics and frescoes are beautiful, if not as jaw dropping as some of the other churches, but the real unique characteristic of this church is below ground. For a 5 Euro fee, you can descend two levels into the ruins... More

THis place was not expensive to visit and was very well looked after and preserved. It wasn't full of tourists like some of the other places and was amazing to see such an old structure so well preserved. and what an amazing history to the place. More
