This is one of the many catacombs present in an area just outside the walls of Rome in Via Appia Antica. The catacombs are located just a way off. To arrive to the area we took a bus from the bus station just opposite the Basilica of San Giovanni Laterano - bus number 218. The bus stops you on the... more

I wasn't certain exactly what I expected, but I was underwhelmed. The tour through the catacombe itself was very brief. We were probably underground for 15 minutes. It is quite chilly all year, so if you tend to be chilled, you may want to bring a sweater or something (even when it's 90 degrees outside and you feel silly carrying... more

We took a private tour of underground Rome & the Catacombs of St. Sebastian through Avventure Bellissime and we were very pleased. Our guide, Giampaolo, was quite knowledgeable and thorough; and the use of a notebook full of pictures depicting sites in their original states was immensely helpful in understanding and appreciating the sites. A driver took us directly to... more

The most historic of all catacombs. Church contains tomb of St. Sebastian with a beautiful marble cover. It contains interesting relics including an important one from the Church of Quo Vadis. The catacombs contain very interesting art work: Christian and pagan. By the way St. Sebastian is the patron saint of athletes. more

I'll start my review by saying I'm not a religious person. So, part of the curiosity and pull of this site was a little lost on me. The historical significance was more interesting to me to read about it than see it, but that may have been more a product of the tour guide rather than the site itself. The... more

The San Sebastiano Catacombs are extremely interesting and worthwhile to visit. You can get there by public transportation (bus). They are right next to the San Calisto Catacombs, also worth a visit. Great history as well as religious significance. If you are driving, there is good parking at San Calisto but not so secure at Sebastiano. Also, they are not... more

We had an intimate guided tour of four people by Donato, whose English was crusty. The catacombs, which extended underneath the St. Sebastian Church, were historically interesting and amazing to consider their origins. Afterwards we had a wonderful lunch at the Archeoligeo (sp?)restaurant across the street from the St. Sebastian Church. more

The Catacombs were one of the most interesting places me and my went to.This was at St. Sebastian Basilica on the Appian Way. You really get to see alot of the old,old buildings. We even walked about 2 miles down the road. As I was walking I could feel the presence of the old Rome. It was one site I... more
