This park, dedicated to the men and women who fought for Rome against combined Austrian and French forces supporting the Pope, has lovely views of Rome. The statue to Anita Garibaldi is particularly lovely. Do not miss the small museum in the Arch at the entrance to the Gianicolo park. More

The italian for Janiculum hill not one of the 7 hills Rome is built on is Gianicolo. When you get to the statue of Guiseppe Garibaldi you have a fantastic view of Rome. On a sunny day, this walk is a must do to get nice views of Rome. And on your way, go through the Trastevere which is the old Rome. More

As others have noted, this park is reached by an uphill walk. The path is level and often shady once you reach the top, and the views are lovely. We used this route to get from Trastevere to the Castel Sant' Angelo while enjoying the views along the way. I recommend doing this after you have spent a few days... More

This hill isn't in the top20 list of the greatest and most famous sights of Rome. Yes, you can read about it in guidebooks, but most of turists don't have time for it.
