Old El Paso taco kits, HP Sauce, wasabi and everything in between. Super busy with tourists and locals alike, so go during a weekday if you can. Cafe/takeaway/bar up front, labyrinth of gourmet/international foods in the back. More

The advantage to Castroni is that they have everything from all corners of the globe. Their deli is brilliant and make you want to sample. The bar is excellent and is worth a visit for the coffee and cornetto alone. They also have branches elsewhere in Rome, close to Barberini and at La Storta on the Cassia north of Rome. More

Should you be visiting the Vatican, or just in the vicinity, then make sure you pop into Castroni for a quick espresso, a pastry or perhaps just a chance to browse their infinite shelfs of goodies, imported from all over the world. From great local "made in Italy" products such as various oils, vinegars or limoncellos (that your friends are... More

I was looking for hard candy to bring back for friends and family and happened upon Castroni's. What a find! The licorice and Perugina hard candies are delicious plus the store is stocked with lots of unusual items. I was looking for limoncello candy and the store near the Vatican had it. The store which is on the Via Cola... More

We stumbled upon this place for lunch, and ended up going back again it was so good! Good selection of panini sandwiches, salads, and pastas for lunch. And the best part, they don't charge a coperto (table charge) to sit and eat it! More

Stumbled upon this upon our last night in Rome when out looking for somewhere for dinner on Via Nazione. Popped in to look at the deli offerings and realised they had a really contemporary sit down area at back, where they did deli type food, cocktails and coffee Waiter was really attentive, and in his uniform it felt like a... Great store on a great street. All kinds of great foods -- from chocolates to coffees to Betty Crocker cake mixes. There's an espresso and dolci bar and the place is always busy. It's a fun stop if you're in the neighborhood. And, the neighborhood is a Roman neighborhood. The Cola di Rienzo is not a traditional tourist area so... More

We dropped by Castroni on a specific errand (buying their whole espresso beans for a friend who'd tried them before and wanted more). But once we got there we just had to spend some time wandering the aisles. This is a great gourmet food shop, a feast for the eyes and the nose. It's a wonderful place to pick up... More
