Had a great tour of the Vatican with a guide called Angelo. We were a reasonably small group and he was very informative. Well worth while as didn't have to join the enormous queue! The guides (or assistant) will approach you in the Square. Well worth the money. Sistine Chapel great but don't expect to spend any more than 10... More

We were in Rome for 3 days before we boarded our cruise ship. We were with 4 other couples. The Vatican was our favorite site. It is overwhelming to see the Sistine Chapel. To think that Michelangelo, a sculpture by trade, painted the ceiling was amazing, beyond words. You stand there and look up and can't believe it. St. Peter's... More

Bypass the long lines and most importantly, learn about the history of the church, all the Popes, Michaelangelo and see the magnificent pieces of art, religious artifacts. It is quite an experience, one not soon to forget! You will learn some very interesting information about the Vatican you wouldn't hear about if you tried to tour it on your own.... More

You could really spend a week but give it at least a full day and always look up in Italy or you will miss the best things. More

I was not so lucky to have enough time to spend there but if you have it ... take your time and visit the museum, the Sixteen chapel and of course the San Pietro church (basilica). You will never regret. More

We took a tour of the Vatican with Francesca, and she definitely went the extra mile for us - literally. When we arrived, our son was having a bout of "travellers' tummy", and wouldn't have been able to take the tour. Francesca walked with me several blocks to the local pharmacy and helped me buy medicine for him. We were... More

One of the reasons you come to Rome, the “Eternal City”, is to try and experience an ephemeral, magical sense of discovery... Here is the itinerary I ‘followed’ on a recent Spring Sunday. I started out following the walk outlined in Lonely Planet but about halfway through I became distracted and never got to Castel Sant’Angelo. This is my suggested... More

As with everything else, the Vatican is a must visit place. But I have my own religious disappointment, but on the overall, the museum is amazingly wonderful with the arts and statues. More

We were here just before Easter which made for a very busy time. I can highly recommend getting a guided tour, its easy to walk though churchs, cathedrals etc and gaze in wonder but its fantastic to get detailed information and history. Our two children 12 and 13 years really enjoyed it. Its 2 to 3 hours long so don't... More

Being Catholic, it was number one on our list. Once we entered The Vatican, I had chills. There were confessional stalls, just look at the signs for the language the priest inside speaks. I felt so "clean" after. Although, being a highly allergic person, I didn't expect the Vatican to be dusty. Or as I call, Holy Dust. We went... More
