If you plan to go to Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, be aware that the choice of restaurants for pre-theater dining near the opera house is very difficult. The outside of Teatro dell'Opera is box-like, not much to look at architecturally. But the inside is plush, velvety and exquisite. The opera La Boheme, which we attended in (I think) January 2004 was beautiful and enchanting. The performance we saw was staged by Franco Zeffirelli and something to behold. More
