Our B&B owner suggested this as a stop because we had enough time to hit some off the beaten path spots. We used the route from behind Circo Massimo and found it no problem. First came across a beautiful little nook of a park with a glorious view of Rome. Very tranquil. Then kept walking and came across the key... More

a poetic and romantic journey in peace on this area which is one of the seven Rome's hills, practically downtown, well known for the roman Temple of Vesta, the Bocca della Verita' (Mouth of truth), and the romanic Basilicas of Saint Sabina and Saint Prisca More

We wandered up the steep winding hill from the Circus Maximus and were immediately taken with the peace and stillness of this place. Below us there was the hustle and bustle of Rome but among the orange groves it could have been a million miles ago. We enjoy Rome but for a few hours it is good to escape. This... More

The aventino Hill seems to be in another world. It is so quiet, the park has a fantastic view of Rome. The perfect place to wander. More

The three make the walking more comfortable and there is a nice view from the city. The view is the best, the rest is not so special in a city where almost everything is special. More

The Aventine is one of Rome's seven hills. At its summit are several splendid medieval churches: Santa Sabina, Sant'Alessio, Sant'Anselmo, a beautiful park called "Parco degli Aranci" because of its orange trees with its magnificent view over Rome across to the Vatican. Near Sant'Anselmo be sure not to miss looking through the keyhole at the Knights of Malta. What you... More

We were happy to find the keyhole but it wasn't that easy. We ended up walking in the completely wrong directly at first. Note that there are two ways to get to the top of the hill - one is through the main streets (by where the Mouth of Truth is) - this is an extremely steep uphill! I would... More

The keyhole view is the image of Rome I will always remember, though it may be hard to find. But once you are up on the Aventine hill, walk some more, there are many churches right in the area, includkng one of Rome's oldest, the Basilica Santa Sabina. And if you go to the right of the Basilica, there is... More

Piazza of Knights of Malta is located in a quiet neighborhood. Although is not one of the most popular places in Rome, if you have little time it's worth a visit. While I was there I noticed how two Italians brought their friends, apparently their guests from a foreign country to see the place. It seems that the Romans considered... More
