Based on TripAdvisor reviews, my husband and I booked a guided tour in advance of our trip to Rome, and were so glad that we did. Yes, it's somewhat of a hassle booking ahead, arriving in plenty of time, checking your bags, 2 hour time limit, etc. -- but we still felt it was well worth all the hassle. We're... more

Having read the revving reviews on Trip Advisor, our group of five decided to go check out the Galleria on our last day in Rome. As the rest have said it so well, Galleria Borghese is an absolute gem, and I would agree with the rest that it is a must-go in Rome! Bernini is truly a master - the... more

Mrs. Geek and I visited this gallery earlier this week and it was the highlight of our trip to Rome and Florence. We are interested in sculpture and eager to see the Bernini pieces -- we were not disappointed. There are also some great paintings on the upper floor. As others have mentioned, reservations are strictly required, absolutely no bags... more

This museum is just a treasure. I saw it in 1978 and was dazzled by it then. I had the pleasure of revisiting it in 2006 and it was just as wonderful. It has my all time favorite sculpture in the world - Bernini's Apollo and Daphne. It is simply dazzling. I was traveling with my husband and a friend... more

After 68 days through almost all of Europe, with many, many churches, museums, buildings - this by far was my favorite museum/gallery. The stone work looks like the people were frozen in time. Make a reservation and go. more

To avoid an unpleasant experience you must know: * Viewing times are in 2-hour slots, strict policy * Bring a map so you can find it in the Borghese Park * All cameras and bags are checked * NO PHOTOGRAPHY ALLOWED * Let me say that I enjoyed this jewel of a museum more than the Vatican (yes!!! actually!!!). It... more

Certainly one of the must sees in Rome. In January 2008 we were extremely fortunate to see an extended Canova exhibitiion with works from Firenze, Met in NY, Leeds etc. The Berninis are breathtaking. Ensure you book, understand that there is a 2 hour time slot and that bags, coats must be checked. No photography. Walk through the Metro underground... more

As many of the other posts have indicated this is a piece of Rome not to be missed, the building is wonderful and the art is outstanding. For periods during the next eight years they are featuring specific artists. This year (through early February 2008) it is the sculptor Canova with the centerpiece being his daring portrait of Paolina Borghese.... more

This is without a doubt one of the top art galleries in Rome. While it is not a big place like the Uffizi in Florence, the quality of the collection more than makes up for it. Apart from the stunning sculptures by Bernini, including "Apollo and Daphne", "David", "Aeneas, Anchises & Ascanius" and "Rape of Proserpine", each room are decorated... more

I am not an art lover althought really enjoyed my brief visit at the Borghese Museum and I liked Bernini's work and the sculpture of Napolean's sister. We had a 2 hour slot but it was more than adequate and we got bored after a while as it all began to look the same. I prefer the sculptures to the... more
