It was really awful. They take you down to the prison and then through a 'media' tour where they talk to you about water and some bricks argue with each other in an annoying way. Not interesting at all, and a waste of time.

This is a complete waste of time. They have a hole in the ground with a cell below it and they have tried to spin this out into an 'attraction' so they can charge 7 euros for entry. The hole in the ground is faintly interesting (it's where the Roman emperors used to throw their prisoners, including kings and leaders...

Mamertine Prison now has a 10 Euro charge to enter. On the day we went, they were running a 7 Euro charge special. I felt better about asking my husband and our 4 friends to go in! I have mixed emotions. I am glad that I went so that I could see the prison where Paul and Peter were kept....

I was really interested in seeing the prison, so my boyfriend and I decided to check it out. Tickets were €7 each which seemed fair so we paid for our tickets and were then told that we would have to come back in fifteen minutes when the audio headsets would be ready.
When we came back, there were more people...

I went to Mamertine Prison because I've heard that they've realized something new and innovative (for Rome) a multimedia tour, with light, music and virtual images.
ok they did it.
But as a Roman I can warn you that the virtual tour is suggestive religious drama, a catholic performance..
No history facts of the ancient roman prison, you discover only...

I had read about this famous 2,500 year old prison in several guide books and really wanted to see it. i was surprised to find out that the cost to enter was 7 Euros and there was very little explanation of what you were going to see. I decided to check it out and was led on a multi-media tour...

Was here several years ago to see the site where Peter and Paul were supposedly imprisoned in Rome. Back then it was free to get in, with a small box near the door where donations were appreciated. Now they have closed the old entrance and you have to enter from the side near the forum. It is no longer free...

A friend suggested we see places pertaining to Paul and Peter while we visited Italy, including this site which was supposedly where Peter and Paul were imprisoned. We didn't get any earphones or videos but were personally taken through the site by a female guide. Our guide told us upfront that it was only a "legend" and that niether Paul...

We paid 10 euros each for the tour. It was the most disappointing attraction we did in Rome. Historically inaccurate and was just film show, with 'talking stones'. Lasted approx 15 mins. Saw a couple of rooms with original stonework and the rest were just projector film of artificial walls. Headphones for pre recorded information. No actual guide. The last...

The information provided was not just legend, but lies presented as fact. Our tour guide had no problem making up information that made no sense (e.g. they dropped the prisoners in here to die...they didn't die here...and upon questioning, "actually they used a ladder"). The tiny historical area was full of tacky recreations with long, meaningless explanations (e.g. musings on...
