Maximian's throne is splendid as billed, but there are other amazing things to be seen here, including a remarkable stone Easter calendar from the sixth century. Beautifully curated too. More

An interesting museum with the absolute high point in the small chapel of St Andrea. Beware of the guards who do not allow any photography! More

The Museum is not very big, but worth visiting due to the St. Andrea Chapel and its mosaics. Included in the combined ticket. More

This museum is Mecca for lovers of Early Christian art. Luckily the signage and labels were good as the staff was "not there" for the visitors. Amazing mosaics in little chapel within the museum. Extraordinary Ceiling of birds. In November, no crowds. Take your time, relax, and lap it up. Museum is one to walk through just to get to the chapel and the ivory throne. More

Definitely off the beaten path in Ravenna but worth a visit. I have owned an Italian box with a mosaic on the lid for years, and this is where the design is from. Imagine stumbling on that. More

If you're in Ravenna, you should try to see everything, so get the pass that includes this charming museum. After all, It's located right beside the Battistero Neoniano (Neonian Baptistry), another essential sight in Ravenna. The two main highlights are an intricately-carved... More
