There are several World Heritage sites in Ravenna featuring extraordinary mosaic art works in religious settings. The Basilica is one of those, and it is one of the larger such sites. Very impressive and certainly the Basilica should be included on your Ravenna itinerary. More

Ravenna's mosaics are something to behold. I wish I had had my binoculars with me to study the mosaics at the various sites. More

Above the processions of martyrs and virgins is a whole series of stories from the life of Christ. Take binoculars. More

Like all the other sights in Ravenna this is stunning - and if you wait around the school groups will get through. More

Some fabulous mosaics cover the walls of the Basilica which is in the heart of the town. The complex has a gift shop. Start your tour here and buy a ticket that allows you to visit 5 or 6 of the World Heritage sites in the town. Tucked away in the opposite corner to the ticket office behind some plain... More

Like many of the churches in Ravenna it is inspirational, although many of the original features have been altered over time. The nave is the most beautiful, the altar is a latter "horror", strange it was deemed necessary to build it recently. Oh well! More

The mosaics in this church are extraordinary in many of the scenes. Apart from the long procession on both sides of the church, I find the Adoration of the Magi absolutely marvellous. The suits of those guys are just great. More

The mosaics are lovely. Nice church close to the centre of Ravenna. The combined ticket is very convenient if you plan to visit the other sites in Ravenna More

The simple form and well-lit interior make this church an interesting contrast to San Vitale when visiting Ravenna. Its mosaics cover the nave walls of its cruciform interior and turns them into a procession of religious and noble figures. Colourful and compelling. More
