Beautiful castle, built with white stones from Carso, on the sea. It was built by Maximilian of Augsburg as the residence for he and his new wife, Carlotta. The park surrounding the castle is vast and magic. The view of Trieste from the castle is enchanting. A real must see place. More

The castle is fascinating and it is worth while getting the audio guide to learn so much more about it all. The grounds are free to enter and the views of the bay are wonderful. The cafe in the parterre garden is reasonable value. There are also plenty of seats where you can sit and watch the world go by.... More
