This was an easy trail (only got to go between Riomaggiore & Manarolo), with lovely views. A little dark at night, so bring a flashlight. Very sweet that it's for 'lovers', with all the padlocks, etc. Looks a little trashy with all the plastic bags & diapers tied onto the fence...kinda lessens the beauty of the place. More

Especially between Vernazza and Monterosso al Mare (it's better in that direction finishing at Moterosso al Mare with the views of the town and its beach. Just be prepared for about an hour or so walk over some demanding countryside with some steep hills and narrow ledges but it is so worth it for some incredible views!! A top highlight... More

A great way to see the Cinque Terre coast. The trail is not hard. It is paved, has a guard rail and is very safe. It costs 3 euro for entrance at the park gate near Riomaggiore, unless the attendant is not there. Then it is free. More

The walk from Riomaggiore to Manerola was OK but a lot of it was a man made tunnel - we enjoyed the walk from Manerola to Corniglia - the main track was closed due to landslide so took a track higher up which went through vineyards and vegetable gardens - was good. Most of the tracks are very stoney and... More

Just remember that as of fall '11, the trail only goes to Manarola. Then you have to take the train to Corneglia... if you want to see it...and then you can hike it again to Vernazza, etc. north. If you want to take the "high trail," you can hike it all the way from Riomaggiore to Monterosso, but plan on... More
