I went to Piazza San Matteo based on the recommendation of a guide book. There is a nice little church there, with some ornate frescos, and a couple of old houses.
This is close to other attractions in Genoa, so if you have time it's worth a look (mostly the church). However, I personally thought it wasn't the most interesting...
