We arrived in Portofino towards the end of a cruise. Walked up the very steep and winding lane to this plain little church which was destroyed during World War II and rebuilt to be the same as the original. Walk up to see the beautiful church and surrounding view. The tiles leading up to the front door were placed in a beautiful swirl design. Have lunch by the water. A very pleasant walk - well worth the trip!

Being a somewhat frail octogenarian, I had something of a problem climbing up, but the resulting view was worth the effort. The cemetery does not show up well in this picture. It was absolutely covered with flowers - orchids and cyclamen - one of the prettiest sights I have ever seen - and looking our over the Mediterranean. I would...

The church looks down on Portofino harbour on one side and across the mediterranean on the other . The building itself is very simple, with a cemetery built into the rocks behind it. There are some steep steps up from harbour or a slightly more gentle path up from behind the square.
