We toured Villa Balbianello on a cool, rainy day and found the indoor tour fascinating. The most recent owner willed the Villa to FAI in trust, to be appreciated by the public. The collections include substantial furnishings from ships, French and Italian chandeliers, furniture, accessories, etc. Collections include Pre-Colombian, Chinese and African art. The large room containing the many artifacts... More

We had our 80 year old mother when we first attempted to get to the Villa. From the Leno boat dock, it is a very long walk (30+ minutes) up and down hills. But - we then found out there was a taxi boat service running on Thursdays and Fridays. We went back to Como and tried again the following... More

We spent quite some time on the Italian lakes and this is definitely one of the most beautiful places to go to. The gardens are marvelous - with nice architectural details. Getting there by boat is lovely ; but the walk is also quite pleasant. Note that there's a rather nice little beach, just as you leave Lenno. (if you... More

What a spectacular setting, approached initially by boat, the villa sits on a high promontory with views of the lake from the loggia both north and south at the same time. The guided tours are included in the price and are very informative. Belongs to the Italian National Trust, so take your British NT card with you for a much... More

We arrived by boat and were met by a private guide. Walking up the slight hill to the Villa was a picturesque view of sprouting trees trimmed in candelabra shapes and lavender wisteria framed by Lake Como. You must arrange a tour to go inside the house to view the museum collection of art by the last owner Monzino; see... More

Stands well on the headland near Lenno. Has interesting connection to James Bond film as well as the previous Italian explorer owner. More
