We toured this museum as part of our tour of the La Scala theater. It was very interesting to see the pictures, paintings and busts of world famous composers, conductors and singers, as well as musical instruments from the 18th and 19ths centuries. Particularly interesting to me were the instruments personally used by Mozart and Liszt.

We spent a delightful hour in Milan at the La Scala Museum, which is easily accessible from Duomo(Cathedral) metro. The Museum, while small, offers an interesting glimpse into behind the scenes at the opera. We were also allowed into a box to view the theatre itself where workers were busy onstage getting ready for that night's performance.

We were a bit disappointed by the Scala Museum. It's main interest is that it allows you to see the main theater which is astonishing. The problem is that it is pretty much all there is to see and you can't even go in there but only look at it from a balcony, so you spend a relatively short amount...

Five euros well spent just to see the inside of the opera house from the boxes. To enjoy the rest of the museum you will need to appreciate the arts a little more than I do and I like a nice painting! Lots of books behind locked glass cabinets and walls filled with posters etc. Be sure to check that...

The opera house was beautiful and the museum interesting. It would have been nice to watch an opera there.

La Scala Museum is a small packed with memorabilia, attraction designed particularly for opera buffs. Nevertheless, we went to see it and were pleased that we did. We were also luckly enough to be able to view the actual beautiful baroque theatre. The museum exhibits are labelled but in very tiny print. Despite our poor knowledge of all things opera,...

Most people have heard of La Scala, and for that reason alone it's worth a visit. We went in August when the Opera House was closed for productions, but was having its annual refurbishment and so we could stand in one of the boxes and look down into the auditorium and at the stage. Fascinating to see it from quite...

The Teatro Alla Scala is one of the buildings around the Piazza Alla Scala. It is not an impressive building from the outside, so it is recommended to make a visit to see the inside.
If you can't get or just don't feel like forking out for opera tickets (they are generally very expensive, up to €2,000), a visit to...

We visited the Museum because it was near where we were and we had a discount coupon. These are not good reasons to go. The museum was crowded with tour groups and because they were practicing for a concert, we had only an extremely brief opportunity to view the actual theater and stage. That is, I think, quite beautiful, but...
