This museum, dedicated to Otzi the Iceman (nicknamed locally 'Frozen Fritz') was one of the top attractions we saw in Italy, ranking right up with the Colosseum and Vatican. Otzi is kept in a freezer with a porthole-sized viewing window, so visitors must line up with schoolchildren for a look at his freeze-dried mummy. But the rest of the museum... More

My new husband has waited 21 years since the discovery of Otzi to see him and was not disappointed!! We were based in Lake Garda and travelled to see Otzi on public transport ( 2 buses and a train)! What an amazing experience! We went on a rainy day and although the musuem was busy we didnt really have to... More

it was a very interesting afternoon looking at all the items found with Otzi the ice man, including his well-preserved mummified body. the fiction floor is a bit hard to take seriously, but worth a visit for a laugh at how ridiculous other people can be! More

This museum really is worth a visit!! We were there during the 20 years of Ötzi special exhibition - and because it was a rainy day we had to wait in line for about 20 minutes before we actually could go in. But then we took our time walking through the museum. We didn't have to pay any admission fee... More

What a wonderful side trip. We viisited the museum on our way to Castelrotto and thought it was so interesting learning about Otzi the Ice Man. So worth the 9 euros. The last floor where you learned about the media hype was a little strange but glad they included it. What is up with Brad Pitt getting an Otzi tattoo... More

The story of Otzi is presented in a very interesting and stimulating way that is sure to capture the imagination of young and old alike. It is fascinating to find out what scientist have been able to uncover about the life of this man who lived so long ago and yet was more like modern man than I ever imagined.... More

If driving from Venice, Milan or southern Italy on your way to the Dolomite mountains, Austria or Switzerland, stopping at the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology in Bolzano is a worthwhile visit. "Otzi" the 5,000 year old Iceman is displayed in a comprehensive fashion where all the items found with him are displayed separately in a large well lit space... More
