We weren't very familiar with the Venice school of painting, and this site was very educational, especially in regard to the works of Tintoretto. I would recommend getting the audio tour. more

My wife and I visited the Scuola San Rocco in May 2009 and it was definitely a highlight of our stay in Venice. Others have called this the "Sistine Chapel of Venice" and that's absolutely a fair statement. Honestly, this place is wonderful and so peaceful in comparison to Rome's cramped alternative. Tintoretto's paintings adourn the walls and ceilings whilst later wooden sculptures on the walls fascinate. Mirrors are supplied to magnify and assist the viewer to examine the ceiling art. Inexpensive to enter and my favourite memory of a great trip to Venice. more

GO!!! Even if you're not a fan of Tintoretto, go for the STUNNING wood carvings alone. I was there for an hour and a half this week, and there were never more than four other people in the place, totally incomprehensible as it is certainly a must-see. more

I tell anyone who is touring Venice to visit Scuola Of St Rocca. Only for a local introducing me to this part of Venice, I may have left not discoverg this. Wonderful. Other memories "The Sqare at Night" with the orchestra playing. I hope to return Maria Mellick more
