It was created out of the art collection which Teodoro Correr left to the city in 1830 and offers various tours: from the neoclassical rooms, with sculptures by Antonio Canova, to historical collections on the city’s institutions, urban history and daily life. The picture gallery, one of the most fascinating collections of Venetian painting from its origins to the early 16th century, includes works by Lorenzo Veneziano, the Bellini family, Carpaccio, Cosmè Tura, Antonello da Messina and Lorenzo Lotto, displayed in an interesting layout by Carlo Scarpa. « less

While less imposing than Palazzo Ducale, this is a museum to see. It is located in San Marco Square just like the Palazzo Ducale and the famous basilica. The museum describes Venice history from the 1200's to the 1500's. There are collections of weapons, paintings, sculpture, medallions and coins.Works of the Bellini brothers,Lotto, Messina, and Carpaccio are just some of... More

Or visit on a rainy day. A fine museum, but you have to consider all the other marvelous things there are to do in Venice. A good insight into the history and culture of the Venetians. More

Date: 24th March – 8th July 2012 ‘In the sign of Hoffmann and the Secession’ is the title of this exhibition on the 150th anniversary of the birth of Gustav Klimt. On show are paintings, drawings, furniture and jewelry, as well as evidence of the special relationship between Klimt and Josef Hoffman, architect and interior designer. The exhibition, through reconstructions... More

We went to the Correr Museum to see the Klimt exhibition. Not my usual sort of exhibition at all - it's my husband who likes Klimt and his contemporaries! But this was well laid out, with good lighting, and the rest of the museum was worth a visit too. A good place to get out of the rain and easily... More

We visited Venice for 3-4 days and had enough time to spend for museums as well. Correr Museum is located in St. Mark’s Square and might be a temptation for those who visit Basilica and Dodge’s Palace. If you don’t have enough time to visit you can skip it this time cause there are more interesting things and places to... More

I went to see the Klimt show to get out of the rain one afternoon. I have never seen a Klimt exhibition and was looking forward to it. However I was very disappointed as the exhibition was small and there were not that many pieces of work by Klimt. There were lots fo pieces of work from his contemporaries and... More

This place was really confusing, and there wasn't much signage. It wasn't as educational as it could have been, and thus felt really esoteric, like you had to know what you were seeing beforehand to merit understanding the exhibits. It wasn't worth the money at all, but the entrance was combined with the library, which was really cool. More

Poorly laid out with bad sign posting. Little by way of engaging exhibits. Stuffy and old fashioned. Nothing to make me want to come back. The Naval Museum was far more interesting More

When we visited there were two exhibitions on - Klimt, which you had to pay extra for and Armenia, which was included in the price of entry. We didn't pay the extra to view the Klimt exhibition. You will need to check your bag free of charge before entering the Museum. The entrance room is beautiful, light and airy it... More

Great museum, but you are always aware that you are only a tourist in the eyes of staff there who are either bored, rude, disinterested, have poor english or pretend they have - or all of the above. More
