We paid 2 euros to skip the queues and that worked really well to get in but unfortunately, it is dark in the Basilica and crowded. You are shuffling along behind people who just suddenly stop and then people start walking the wrong way causing all sorts of problems. You then come to doors that ask for 3 euros to... More

This Basilica is more famous than it is beautiful in my opinion. You have to see it though and it costs no money to enter. The one caveat is that it is the place in Venice where you have the greatest risk from pickpockets. So be carefuly as you are gazing up at the historic paintings and statues. The Basilica... More

For a first time visitor to Europe, I was speechless - the architecture is magnificent, I feel as if I was on holy ground. Attended Mass on 31/12, an exprerience that will take me through 2012.. More

No entry fee into the main basilica, ensure you are dressed respectfully, i.e. shoulders covered etc. Stunning artwork on every facet of this beautiful building. More

It's very busy, and the lines could get long, but we went relatively late in the afternoon and walked right in. This is one of the most beautiful buildings I've ever been in. A must see. More

One of the best parts of our time was sitting in San Marco Square, at an outdoor restaurant, sipping a glass of wine, listening to a classical trio playing Italian music. Saint Mark's Basilica is amazing, beautiful and definitely worth standing in line for. You can take lots of pictures, but no flash photography. Try to go when the crowds... More

We skipped the long line waiting to get in the church by booking the entrance online. It was only 1 Euro person and worth it! You are not allowed to wander freely around the church. You must walk through marked areas fighting to see things with the tour groups. If you are a solo traveller, be prepared to snake your... More

Worth it, wonderful stunning building, free to get in, walk around takes about ten minutes, but if you don't get there before it opens at 9.45 then be prepared to queue for a very long time as will be competing with the hordes from the many liners that come in each day. More

Absolutely beautiful! We had a private guide which really enriched our experience not to mention skipping the long, long line. The Palo'Doro was magnificent. We paid a few extra euros to see the treasury and other antiquities-worth it. We also went up to the upper balcony which provided a beautiful view for 2 additional euros I believe. A must see... Amazing, definately worth standing in line for. Go after 1500/3:00 pm, the crowds are smaller and the line goes quickly. Oh, and pay the 2-3 Euros for the small extra rooms, seeing that much gold is not an everyday experience. More
