This was free, so that was good! We spent 20 minutes waiting to get in, then only 10 minutes walking round inside. I like St Mark's Basilica because the general admission is free and it allows you access to the main chapel area. There are separate (but small) admission charges if you want to explore other areas like the roof or the gallery. Visited the basilica in February during carnival. It opens at 9.30am but the treasury and altar don't open before 9.45am.
