This is a great wooden bridge with little padlocks all over due to some lovers tradition. Quite charming really. There is an artist just by the foot of the bridge on the southern side named Marco - he draws in chalk from memory - trust me, you MUST see this fellow in action. A true magician. :-) (see pic) More

So many people use this bridge that it is difficult to take a photo of it or from it without being jostled by the passing throngs. The bridge itself is nothing special and was originally built as a temporary structure. Public restrooms are located beneath the westerly terminus of the bridge. More

It is a lovely old wooden bridge. One of two that allows foot traffic over the Grand Canal. It is steep and difficult to climb and not for the feint of heart, or people with heavy loads or strollers. The view is stunning though from the top in both directions. It allows an unhindered view of Santa Maria del Salute... More

The view of the Salute and the Lagoon is amazing from the Accademia Bridge. The best time is at sun up or sun down. Sun up is great because it's just you! More

Ponte dell’Accademia (Academy Bridge), one of only three major bridges crossing the famous Grand Canal in Venice, is highly overshadowed by the iconic and famous Rialto Bridge, located in the middle of Venice. What Ponte dell’Accademia lacks is the mop of tourists and shops selling cheap souvenirs. What is has instead is a clear, peaceful and relaxing view or the... More

The Ponte(bridge) is a huge, wide, wood structure over the Grand Canal. The view is fantastic from the top-wonderful for photos day and night. This was my 4th trip to Venice and my third locale for hotels. There are tons of things to see and do just steps from the bridge. The Accademia art museum is there and the Guggenheim... More

Whilst the bridge is in situ to get you from san marco to dorsoduro sestieri, I always think it is much more than that, all the bridges that cross the grand canal have their good points, however, I just love the wooden structure that is the accadenia bridge. A lot of tourists use the bridge to scurry from san marco to... More

I was mostly thankful there was another bridge besides the rialto to get back to the main square. I enjoyed this different style, but it wasnt anying too special. I actually wouldnt even consider this an attraction, but saw it was listed as one on trip advisor. The area around the bridge is great, more low key. More

The Accademia had mostly gothic art, which really isn't my favorite. The rooms were a bit bland, but there weren't many people there so that would be a positive. I particularly enjoyd the rare painting of the Virgin Mary while pregnant. More

Leading away from the less atractive sestiere San Marco, connecting to Dorsoduro and the lovely Zattere, and moreover giving you a spectacular view on the Canal Grande and La Salute.......can one ask for more ? More
