I don't understand why everyone is so disappointed with this bridge. I was not put off by the crowds of people or the "tacky" souvenir shops on the bridge at all. I just felt so lucky to be standing on one of the most famous sites of one of the most beautiful and unique cities in the world! Sure, the... more

Whatever made this landmark bridge a must see place to go in Venice has been lost. It's covered in graffiti, it's dirty, and it just doesn't have any of the charm that the rest of this glorious city still exudes. Since it's located in the heart of the city it's hard to avoid it if you spend a couple days... more

The Rialto bridge seen from afar is part of Venice; show anybody a picture of it and they'll say Venice. Up close it loses it's appeal as it's not very clean and there are loads of tourists taking photos. However, as there are only three bridges over the Grand Canal it's useful to cross over to the other side if... more

Aside from St Marks Square, the other important attraction in Venice is the Rialto Bridge. Gracefully bridging the Grand Canal the bridge offers beautiful views down the river of the big canal and everything it has to offer. The shops on the bridge are nothing special, but the flanks are both romantic and scenic. It is also worth looking at... more

How can they allow grafitti to spoil this beautiful bridge? The market is "tacky" and the restaurants with the view have only the view to recommend them. A big disappointment in an otherwise fantastic city. The views FROM the Rialto are nice. more

The Rialto Bridge really is quite pretty, or at least the views off of it are, and it's certainly worth seeing the hustle and bustle of the daily open market. However, since it really is a bridge, not primarily a tourist attraction, it's certainly not something you need to cut time out of your busy Venetian schedule to see. Go... more

You will see the Rialto Bridge if you spend anytime in Venice, so 'recommending' it or not is somewhat a pointless exercise. I should say that some of my best pictures of the Grand Canal 'scene' were taken from the top of the bridge, especially in the early evening (at full dark it's just too, well, dark!). I would agree... more

Slightly disappointed by the bridge - the beauty of the structure is spoiled by tacky souvenir shops and graffiti and it's very crowded during the day. Better to visit early morning/late in the evening to avoid the masses. Far more interesting is the daily (except Sun) fresh produce market. Located just passed the bridge at the quayside this is a... more

I found the Bridge much more worth seeing than the actual market around it. Bridge was much bigger than I expected and had great views of the Grand Canal. I was there on a Sunday in Sept., 2006 so it was very, very busy. Packed. Try to get there early if you want to take pictures without a lot of... more

The Rialto Bridge spans the Grand Canal at the very center of the city. The bridge provides a great view of the Grand Canal and is large enough to hold rows of shops. The bridge can be crowded, but is one of the not to miss sites in Venice. more
