You could spend roughly an hour or so looking at all of the paintings from various periods. But for 11 euros I didn't feel like I was getting my money's worth.
I highly recommend an audio guide to make the visit a bit more worthwhile, unless you just like to look at paintings for the sake at looking at them....

If you believe all the tourist books, the Accademia is one of the best places to visit in Venice, but I have to disagree.11 euros to see religious paintings in what resembled a building site in some places of the museum. Scaffolding, builders and lots of noise, does not make for a great experience. Only spent 45 mins here and...

Small museum, with the obvious main attraction being the David. Queues are ridiculous, so if you haven't booked online before prepare for a few hours of wasted time.

The artwork was impressive, but we regretted not getting the audio guide because the information sheets for each room were almost never available in English and sometimes not even in Italian. We could've gone back through the slow line to get one, but decided against.

Pay 11 euro to see a large collection of old colouful religious art from various churches around Europe. All explanations with the paintings are in Italian. You might be lucky to find an English description of where the painting came from in the corner of each gallery. Should have gone to the Gugg.

Visited in April 2012. Fabulous museum. As mentioned in other reviews, the ticket line is abysmally slow; reserve online to skip the lineup. We purchased our tickets on-site, but were subsequently charged for a cash advance because the museum codes its charges as a gambling charge. :-(
