Very nice place to visit. A small pocket of Jewish culture in Venice. Nice galleries and places to buy Jewish art and judaica. Nice kosher restaurants. More

A contrast to the tourist sites on offer in Venice can be found here, loved the peace of the area and it's humbling to pass through entrances that were once gated enforcing night time curfews for Jews In Venice. The Jewish neighborhood is quite large and different from the rest of Venice, the bridges are bigger, the streets are wider, there are far fewer canals. If you come on Saturday you get to see the life of the Jewish community, with little children playing in the streets. It's a quiet part of the city, there are not many tourists.... More

Unless you're interested in life of local jewish diaspora and not willing to go to a hebrew museum, 5 minutes' walk through the ghetto will do for you. More

Read up on the history of it, looked really interesting! In all, it's probably the most boring part of venice! Very tall, boring buildings. Almost like the council estate of venice - if there were such a thing! It was dead too. But we went at new years so probably more busy in summer. More
