The three words that best describe the Peggy Guggenheim Collection are... Refreshing - On our second day in Venice we had already seen the Basillica and the Academia, so it was a nice change of pace to see modern and abstract art. Fun - We had fun with some of the sculptures in the outdoor garden, made a wish on... more

My 13 year old daughter and I absolutely loved this museum. It is a magical place with a great collection of art reflecting the vision of Peggy Guggenheim. The courtyard filled with sculpture was alone worth the price of admission. It is a beautiful place to sit and enjoy the art. Contrary to what another reviewer stated, we found the... more

Fantastic experience!! I love to visit museums and collections during my travels and visiting Peggy Guggenheim Collection was a fantastic experience. You have to prepare the visit reading something about the history of this magic place and the life of Peggy and in this way you will feel the atmosphere that I have found there and I never had in... more

I emailed this museum twice to find out the hours over the Christmas holidays, and no one bothered to reply. When we arrived on the morning of Christmas Eve, I was told I had to check my purse and coat. When we got into the museum, there were many patrons with purses and coats. The art is very interesting and... more

I'm not a specialist in modern art, so I took the audioguide with my girlfriend, so we could have comments on the pieces. It was hilariously badly made and un-interesting ("look at this piece from Picasso. See how well he can draw the curves and straigh lines. It is incredible to think that only three weeks later he would draw... more

Collection located in Peggy Guggenheim's former home on the Grand Canal. She's buried there with several of her pets. Modern art collection of paintings and sculpture. Not allowed to take pictures except of the sculpture garden or view off Grand Canal. Has pricey entry of 10 euros. Contains a Picasso and a Dali. Has several Jackson Pollack's including a room... more

One of my finest memories while in Venice this year (March), a time when the tourist crowd is noticeably thin, was my hours-long visit to the Guggenheim Museum. The website will give you all the pertinent details of what's on the walls, so let me add my observations and experience: located in Dorsoduro (a quiet neighborhood in Venice), the Guggenheim... more

We visited Venice last month and thought the modern art at the Guggenheim would be an interesting diversion. I also thought it would be a good opportunity to see inside a Palazzo on the Grand Canal. While there were some very worthwhile works of art (my personal favorites -- Dali, Picasso and a Modigliani), it was surprisingly small, very crowded... more

We were in Italy for over 2 weeks. Wanting a break from all the Renaissance art, we decided the Guggenheim would be a nice change, however, I would have rather spent my time and money elsewhere in Venice. Don't get me wrong - the museum houses many fine pieces, including a Picaso, but it is small and the entry price... more

I found this to be a really enjoyable wee museum/collection - it is just the right size, with a very good range of artwork - both paintings and sculpture - without it being overwhelming. The setting is also lovely, right on the banks of the Grand Canal. The layout of the gallery makes the whole collection accessible altho' it was... more
