This basilica is another one of the beautiful photos you will have an opportunity to take while in Venice. The formal name, the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute (Basilica of St. Mary of Health), is at the junction of the Grand Canal and the Bacino di San Marco on the lagoon. The dome is very large and catches your... More

The exterior is over-the-top baroque. Pay the few E to go into the sacristy for Tintoretto's wonderful Marriage Feast at Cana. Walk on down to the Dogna for a great view. More

This church was so elegant and peaceful, it is a must see. The design is so different from the other churches in Venice. All that marble made it much cooler inside, we could actually see our breath, and it was 70 degrees outside. More

This is a beautiful church and free to look around. It is located in a beautiful spot on the water. There is a lot to see in the church, but I do wish there was more signs telling you what some of the things were. More

The last few times we were in Venice, the dome was covered in scaffolding. This time, the view of the dome was clear. It was wonderful to be able to view the church in all of its glory. It is a wonderful trip across the canal from St. Mark's Square (either by walking or by vaporetto), so don't miss the... More

Beautiful church that is well work the walk to it. The inside is well preserved and unique compared to the other churches in Venice. The steps outside provide a nice place to sit and rest and take in some views of San Marco. More

This is a lovely church, well worth visiting. If you do, take a walk afterwards along the Zattere, beside the Guidecca canal, and eat at one of the open-air restuarants. The life of the canal is a fascinating accompaniment to lunch. More
