A nice break from the crowds and sites. Lots of local shops and restaurants. You will get lost, so plan for it and above all enjoy it. More

buy your souvenirs there because it is usually less expensive since it contains less tourists. More

My 1st trip to Venice was spent in and around St. Mark's Square. This trip, thanks to a fellow tourist, was spent pretty much anywhere but SMS. We ventured into Cannaregio and loved its beauty and "old-world" charm. Upon entering the area, I would HIGHLY recommend that you step into the "information" bldg; it was WELL-WORTH the 10 minutes of... More

We spent a lot of time walking away from the Grand Canal to see other areas of Venice. We found neighborhoods like the Cannaregio offer a very different side of Venice. Areas like the Cannaregio remind me that there are locals who live in Venice, and that it offers the same amenities and services that are not as "touristy". It... More

Excellent place to get away from the crowds and see where the local residents live, away from the tacky stalls and rip-off bars & cafes. Venice is a real place when you go to the Cannaregio; it's not a film set or a Las Vegas pastiche here. (See our review of Hotel Abbazia for details) More

A very interesting place to visit - the Jewish museum and then a tour of 3 old synagogues. Very well worth visiting and finding out a bit about the history of Venice. More

Lots of little side streets/alley ways to get lost in, and not too many tourist. Just get away from the Strada Nova and look for local cafe's for a nice drink. Or bring your own and sit by a canal. More

Cannaregio is a great spot to be based to get the best from Venice. The area is really quiet but you can get to the Rialto Bridge within 10-15 minutes. If you're staying there the Alilaguna (Arancia) service goes to the Madonna Del Orto stop straight from the airport and costs around 15E each. If you havent got tickets you... More

The main street is fun and has some interesting yet expensive returants except of MacDonald which is worth a visti just to see how they have adapted to Italian taste by offering the Mozzirilla, a burger with Mozzarella instead of Cheddar cheese. More
