We travelled on vaporetto to Lido which took nearly 1 hour - well worth the trip - it is a lovely island and much cheaper than Venice itself. Very cosmopolitan and relaxing. More

Had never been to the Lido. Took the vaparetto on a whim and were delighted with the Lido. Far from the crowds of St Marks and the Rialto. More

We have recently returned from a short break to Venice, where we had opted to stay on the island of Lido. We had decided to get the Alilaguna Waterbus from Venice Airport to Lido and it certainly made for a pleasant, convenient and hassle free way of arriving – passing by the beautiful sights of Venice on its’ way. You... More

The Lido was like a ghost town. Most things were closed and although I would imagine at one time it was a beautiful place to visit, it seemed like it had seen better days. Maybe it has a different side to it in the summer months. More

Very different than Venice. If weather permits, nice for swimming in the see. Cheaper than Venice. Nice for bicycle rides. More

Take the vaporetto, have a meal and a glass of Bellini in the sunshine with a few thousand less tourists than you'll find on the main island. Oh, but don't plan to shop if you arrive in the middle of the day - most of the quaint little shops (far less over-the-top tourist than San Marco or Rialto) observe the... More

There is still a hint of decadence about the Lido, possibly the most famous and one of the oldest bathing spots in the world. However, its interest as a historical place is greater than its attraction as a swimming beach and of course its association with Mann's book which inspired the film "Death in Venice". There are much better beaches... More

With 2 children in tow, it was good to have a break from museums, galleries and churches and let them have an afternoon playing in the sand. Trip there on the ferry also enjoyable. More

The Lido was the perfect home base for us for our second honeymoon to Venice. Just a vaporetto ride away from Venice, the hotels, restaurants and the beach were simply great. More
