S. Maria Assunta Ai Gesuiti in the Canareggio District is well worth the visit. We actually stumbled upon the church one evening on our way to dinner and returned the next morning. The original Church was was established around 1150 and was rebuilt between 1715 and 1729.

The Cathedral Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta is well worth the tortuous boat rides from Fondementa Nuove (Boat LN to Burano, then T to Torcello) and the gentle mile long walk to the Cathedral.
It will cost you 5 Euros to enter, but what a treat you will have the mosaics are stunning especially the last judgement on the rear...

This is such a beautiful church inside, the altar is breathtaking with it's spiral marble pillars, the vaulted ceiling is painted but what is so graceful is the pulpit. Around the pulpit is carved stone but you'd really believe it was material. There's free entry into here so don't miss it. Open from 10 - 12 and 4 - 6.
