Enjoy this outdoor amphitheater and a beautiful opera; the sounds are fantastic it was build in AD 30. We love seeing Aida with over a cast of 250 people, the costumes exquisite and so was the stage. more

The majority of comments appear to be from people visiting for an opera performance. Beware: If you are not visiting for an opera but one is scheduled then you probably won't be able to get into the arena because it will be required for practice. So be prepared to be diissapointed or visit out of opera season. more

We have been to Verona a couple of times, always to see operas at the Arena. The town is small, pleasant, easy to navigate and not too busy even in the high season. A lot of people bus in and out of the town on day trips, sometimes taking in an opera. There are some nice walking areas, and lots... more

What a show - WOW, but what a rip off in the expensive seats!! We paid £125 each and yet the £23 seats were a stones throw away. Bit of an endurance also as performance starts at 9pm and finishes at 1am with 4 intervals. We are not opera buffs and saw Carmen as a trial which is really worth... more

We went to see Carmen at the Arena Di Verona. We had 'cheap seats' that is sitting on the marble steps at the top of this Roman arena...which is all part of the experience and why we chose them. Why sit in a comfy seat at ground level when you can do it like the Romans and have a fantastic... more

We have just returned from a week in Verona/Venice to celebrate our 30th anniversary. I had booked some tickets well in advance (which i would advise) for the appropriate day 14/07/2009 which happened to be a performance of Carmen. The arena itself is an event and as the daylight begins to fade, the excitement builds up. We had tickets on... more

If you are planning to see one of the operas at the Verona Arena I would like to suggest that you purchase the cheapest tickets. It recently cost me over £200 for transport from Lake Garda and 2 tickets to see Aida. The performance was due to start at 9.15 pm and by 8.00 pm there was lightning, thunder and... more

This vast arena is a must-see if you have any iterest in Roman history, or indeed any history at all! It's very well-preserved indeed and still in use as a 20,000-seater stadium for opera and concerts. The scale of the place is vast and it's easy to imagine gladiatorial battles being fought there centuries ago. Ignore the fake gladiators outside... more

The Arena in Verona is lesser known and a more understated version of the famous ampitheatre in Rome. But despite this, its well preserved and maintains a charm you don't get in Rome's coliseum. Unlike the coliseum, the Arena has still got its stage, and its seating. Inside it is possible to get a much more authentic feeling of being... more

This amazing Roman-built stadium, however diminished from it’s original glory, comes alive during opera and live performances throughout the summer in Verona. I can concur that attending an opera or other performance in the Arena is a remarkable and not-to-be-missed experience if your travels take you anywhere near northern Italy. From my several trips to the Arena, here are my... more
