I just arrived back from Italy today and visited Juliet's balcony yesterday and i have to disagree with all the negative comments!!!!! Yes it's fiction, and yes there are love notes written all over the wall, which there is a wall that this is the purpose for!!!!! I left my love note of myself and husbands name and wrote my... more

But based on what you guys have said I think I'll skip it. Can you believe people are shelling out thousands of dollars to get married under the balcony? Have any of these people actually read the play (instead of watching the first 30 minutes of the most recent movie)? I hate to break it to them, but at the... more

Very overrated. The one mystifying thing about Verona is that it really milks the Romeo & Juliet story for all it's worth. Tacky R&J souvenir stalls abound. I'm sure it all generates plenty of tourist revenue, but for me it lowers the tone of this beautiful, elegant city. Juliet's House is really not worth seeing, particularly if it's busy. It's... more

This modern invention greets you with an entrance covered wall to wall in GRAFFITI (where "romantics" post their love!). The courtyard is crammed with tours jockeying to catch a glimpse of Juliet's balcony, with each guide aping Romeo in his respective language in a manner that makes TV contests look clever and artistic. A girl in period dress endures all... more

I'm from Verona and everytime i pass through Via Cappello I'm amazed at how many tourists there are in this fake-historical site. This is a complete bluff, it is just a tourist attraction built in the XX century. Ok, it's free, but Verona has many many other more beautiful attractions (Teatro Romano, Piazza Erbe, San Zeno, Gran Guardia, the medieval... more

Don't bother. This is not worth the walk. Go to Piazza Bra instead! more

Bearing in mind that the story of Romeo and Juliet is a fiction written by a man from Venetzia, the balcony is very romantic. People have used gum to stock love notes on the walls of the passage leading to the little square where the balcony is located. This is a bit tacky but no more so than some other... more

15 years ago this was a beautiful sight with a romantic atmosphere. Last year I returned here with friends who had never been to Verona before only to be confronted by the obscene spectacle of grafitti coved walls and bits of paper stuck with chewing gum. It made even the most disgusting lavatory cubicle look more palatable! It is strange... more

When I heard a tour rep saying watch out for pickpockets I just knew this would be bad. From the graffitti to the post it notes all over the walls it said "This is really a joke" and it was worse it was tacky and seedy. Don't bother unless you are desperate to send a piccy to the folks back... more

I loved it! But then again, I love everything about Italy. It was very romantic, even if it wasn't Juliet's real house. The little balcony and courtyard were really beautiful. more
