Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Doesn't seem much from outside but the architecture inside is really amazing. Is really worth the visit.

Will someone please tell me what the Jewish Torah scroll is doing up on the platform near the altar? Which chapter of the Jewish Bible is it open to, and is there some significance to which chapter it is open to, or was it randomly unscrolled to that chapter?

We went into St Lorenzo on our final sojourn in our brisk nine dayer in Verona and Veneta and can testify that it is a beatufully tranquil oasis, at the heart of the City and so close to the bustling Arena.

When we were there in the pulpits the cascade of holy music appears to be a live Franscisan choir practice but is a perpetuated recording of the dulcit monks in daily communion with peace.

St Lorenzo has been rebuilt a number of times since the Earthquake that struck Verona in 1217 as the original church dates to the beginning of Christianity in the 4th C when the Romans converted.

This Church is a really beautful experience and resting point to collect and reflect prayerfully on the follies of the world and give thanks for the betterment of humanity post WW2 and the birth of the EU to create a better together neighbourhood.

Make a note in your diary to discover St Lorenzo when at the Arena or Opera In Verona.

This is a Romanesque church, a simple one, but for some reason, it impresses me with its quiet, its simplicity and for some reason its position... I feel it stands alone among others and I feel it talks to me from before the 12th century!

Don't miss this quiet place of worship and reflection steps away from the tourist filled squares and "Juliet's Balcony" courtyard. The layers of brick and stone and arches are beautiful, it's an interesting, and really old church.

Entering the cloister of the 12th century San Lorenzo from Corso Cavour you’ll be on the right wing of this High Medieval church. Its Romanesque style architecture body alternating bricks and stones differs from the unique facade, well hidden on the left by one of the two imposing Norman style towers. The main altarpiece depicts a Madonna and child with Saints by Domenico Brusasorci (1566). Unexplained Symbolism of Columns capitals with Eagles keeping preys in their claws.

There is a combination ticket that gets you into 5 churches. The combo ticket is a good deal. This church is also beautiful.

first off, this church is older than dirt. Like waaaay old. Before it WAS a church, it was a temple to the goddess venus. The bits an pieces that adorn the entry garden make its truly ancient origins clear. Very Romanesque, with gothic bits and up front...a torah, displaying one of the five books of Moses. This is one of the little viewed churches in the city, but truly a sacred space, going way back.

Yet another magnificent example of how the Italians manage to preserve their history and culture and mix it with todays world. An absolutely beautiful place to visit.

My husband and I have a rule that we never pass an open church, while traveling. It's a great way to find unexpected gems like the Romanesque beauty of San Lorenzo. Sometimes, the simplest, less-known churches are the most affecting, and that held true here. Stop in, leave a few euros to help the upkeep, and appreciate the sacred quiet of the space.
