Coming out of the harbour terminus, I turned right to arrive in 'Bari Vecchia' leaving the Captaincy on the left. More to the south are the gardens of Isabella Aragon with the Castle Norman and the Square of Frederick II of Swabia around them. Going to the internal i.e. center of the tip into the sea you get to the... More

A beautiful example of Classic Puglian architecture, so imposing it could be a castle rather than a church More

When we entered this church, we heard the most beautiful choral music. We followed the sound down a flight of stairs to another sanctuary, where there was what appeared to be a Russian Orthodox service in progress. The singing was coming from a number of young women scattered throughout the audience. It was one of the more special and deligitful... More

This cathedral is large, ornate and filled with things to discover. The story of St. Nick adds to the visit for those of us who grew up and live with stories of Santa Clause. The basilica is located in the heart of the historic city and its history is full of mysteries and legends that guarantee an excellent talk with any of the guides or priests of the church. Its Romanesque architecture will astonish you for sure. Make sure to visit not only the basilica, but the whole architectural complex of the historic center.... More

Place of contrition for both Catholic and Russian-Greek Orthodox believers and pilgrims. Such feature makes it unique and if you happen to be in Bari in early April you'll experience the madness and sacredness of Festa di San Nicola, that is a 3-day festivity celebrating the arrival of the saint's relics to Bari from Turkey in the distant 11th century.
