From the harbour close to the old town, there are boats taking you to Grotto di nettuno. A pleseant excursion in nice weather. The boat, Dolphinus, is very nice and well kept and the crew very professionel. They caves was interesting. Not a bad way, spending halv a day at €15 + €11 entrence fee to the caves, including a... We decided to see the grotto as it seemed like a major attraction. The kiosk for tickets is just to the side of where all the boats are. They live only a few times a day so better readup first otherwise you may miss them. Upon arriving we realised almost all the stalagmites as well as stalactites have been damaged=shortened.... More

This was my second trip to the Grotto. Both times I absolutely hated the tour. They take about fifty people through the narrow walkways, doing the tour in five languages. This, coupled with the claustrophobic feeling in the cave, make for an unpleasant visit. However, the cave itself is gorgeous. Go in off season if possible. Bring a jacket, as... More

This is one of my favorite tours here on Sardinia! You need to get up early to take advantage of this trip! We take our friends first to Alghero, I love strolling in the old town and along the city wall with spectacular viwew to Capo Caccia, where we will go later on. Then at about 11 am - noon,... More

Worth a visit, but was slightly disappointed by the tour and we have been to more spectacular caves elsewhere. If you haven't been to caves before definitely worth a look. The stairs! We went in April, therefore not too hot, but a huge effort nonetheless. If its a hot day you need sunblock and water. More

Really enjoyed wandering around neptune's grotto looking at all the different stalactites and stalagmites and pools. The tour guide was very interesting. Lovely boat trip ride over from Alghero to the grotto. Good atmosphere on the boat. We had considered driving to the grotto and walking down the steps but when I saw the steps and how high they were... More

This was a great place to visit in a beautiful location. We went in April so it was not too hot and decided to hire a scooter and drive there from Alghero. This was a great option - it is not too far and you get to see more of the countryside. The 656 steps down to the cave were... More

Time your descent down the six hundred and something steps as if you just miss a tour you have to wait an hour for the next one! The day we went down we arrived five minutes past the hour, the next tour would not take place for another 55 minutes, even though three tour guides were standing around waiting!!! More

Neptune's Grotto is a wonderful sight, and rightly selected as the must-see attraction around Alghero. The multilingual guide was informative in the 30 minute tour of the cave. Give yourself plenty of time to get back to the surface afterwards, as the 654 steps can be quite tiring. The main suggestion would be to get the bus to the cave,... More

Fancied a nice little boat trip to Neptune's Grotto. It didn't disappoint - but we weren't particularly expecting the rough seas. The highlight of this trip was actually getting off the boat in the grotto. More
