Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We took the afternoon boat trip from the marina to the Caves. €17 per person for the boat and €14 per person to enter the caves.
I highly recommend this excursion as it is stunning inside the cave. The boat trip over and back is very comfortable with covered seating area or you can choose to sit upstairs in the open.

After visiting the grotte of Bue Marino we decided to also go and visit Neptune's cave.
What a bad idea !!
We cannot deny that the inside is beautiful but so many aspects are wrong :
- this is really made to get as many tourist as possible.
- we were the last inside and we didn't hear what the guide was saying
- there is so much damage that I don't even get why this is still opened
- part of the damage is made so that people can walk through !!
- everyone is touching everything which means the parts that are touched will die
So to summarize : please don't go !!!

We had a great day on the top of this place. We drank some wine and watched the beautiful views on top. We didn’t go to the caves, so nothing to say about that. But i would highly recomend just enjoying the views on the top, with some good company, good music and wine ❤️ Even the locals said that it was a brilliant idea 🍷

During boattrip extensive announcements were made, all in Italian. None of the 3 member-crew was capable to give an explanation in English. Fortunately it were, apparently, no safety issues.

It take around one hour by boat from Alghero, costing from 16 Euro, but this does NOT include enterance to the cave (14 Euro). When you get off the boat there are two lines, what ever you are told you need the left hand line for your tickets.
The cave it self is truly fantastic, the entrance is a little small & low in places before opening up into a wide lake.
30/40 minute's required

Due to the current COVID-19 regulations, it is NOT possible to access the stairs without a ticket.
Hence, if you arrived by car and luckily found a parking lot next to the street, you *must* buy the ticket upstairs even if you do not want to have the guided tour but only plan to go downstairs and enjoy the view from the stairs.
I am writing this because in some comment from last year it was mentioned that it was possible to buy the ticket downstairs in front of the entrance of the grotto as well.
However, there is a nice stair down to the Grotta Pizzi e Ricami a few meters before the entrance. The stair is locked after a few meters, but the view down is nice here and anyway, nobody seems to care..

The previous reviews nearly put me off visiting but decided to go by boat at the last minute. Went at 3pm, boat far from full, no queues and our group was about 30 people.
We had plenty of time to look around, take photos and listen to the guide. She first spoke in IItalian then in English. When it was the English version people started chatting making it difficult to hear but the guide stopped and asked them to keep quiet - good.
I thought it was great, on a par and in cases better than caves I have visited around the world.
Unfortunate so much damage had to be done to make the caves accessible to tourists.
Boat trip was great so do recommend.

The tour was overcrowded with so many selfie takers, so a lot of stop start. I felt it was rushed as I would have liked to spend more time looking at the wonderful natural architectural structures.
The Caves themselves are truly wonderful, a feast for the eyes.
It would have been so much better if the groups were so much smaller and the tours longer.

The caves are very basic and are not very scenic.
The tours are way to big and crowded and the spot is very u accessable. However it is a good spot to travell to if you are willing to spend £100 of more.

Hola! Que recomendáis? Acceder a pie o en barco?
