Sicily has beautiful art treasures, among them an important place could be assigned to the 12th century mosaics. Monreale, Cefalu and Palermo’s Chapel of Palazzo dei Normanni are certainly the places where can be seen the most impressive of them. For the art lovers, the Chapel of Palazzo dei Normanni is a must, don’t miss it. More

We went on a day where court was in session so could only visit the chapel. It was breathtaking and definitely worth the trek out there. It was quite difficult to find the entrance since roadworks cut off the usual route, but definitely worth it. More

The Palazzo dei Normanni is built upon the Punic fortifications - every now and then the basements are opened for tours and you can see the ancient walls down under the foundations of the Palace. Sometimes you can also get a tour to see the 'lost' chapels that were in use before the Capella Palatina was built. The Capella Palatina... More

The mosaics equal Ravenna and it is truly a must see. However, try to time your visit around the cruise ships as the Capella is small and is easily overwhelmed by tours. Not as bad as the Sistine Chapel, but close! More

Lines can be long even once you've been admitted, but worth it to see the stunning mosiacs. More

The cappella patina, but also the mosaics on the outside in the courtyard are of great quality. In tourist season, it is best to come here in the early morning, the lines can be quite long, but we had no such issues. More

The Capella was breath-taking- such beautiful artistry in the woodwork and mosaics. It was a pity that seating was unavailable as we would have enjoyed a quiet moment in this sacred space. Unfortunately most of the Palazzo was closed- perhaps because we visited just before the main season. Luckily for us, this meant no queues or crowds at all. The... More

Unbelievably unique place, too bad there are moments when it gets really crowded and you feel as if you were in a herd of cows being led and taking pictures between elder cows and school age (hordes) veal... More
