There just wasn't that much to see. The authorities were readying the theater for live summer performances, so the hammers, electric saw, dry-wall boards just didn't enhance the feeling that you were standing in the ruins of a great theater of the most powerful city in Sicily. Theatre was most impressive. Roman amphitheatre less so but still worth seeing. The ancient quarries (with the so-called Ear of Dionysius) were attractive with groves of orange and lemon trees, palms and bamboos. More

The Greek theatre is very nice, and we were fortunate to have visited it on a day with only a few other tourists around. The Garden of Paradise is actually & unexpectedly quite nice. More
