Our tour was conducted by a personable bilingual (Italian and English) young lady. It began in the remains of the old Byzantine church then descended into the first century cave/church of San Marciano. It continue through the catacombs where we learned that they we used as a cemetery starting in the fourth century after the persecution of Christians had ended. more
