This castle ruin is a pleasant outing if time allows - it's off the beaten track, and interesting enough to explore. The underground tunnels were fun to wander around, and turned out to be more enjoyable for us than the castle itself. But if time is limited, I wouldn't place this attraction at the top of my list. Outstanding site off the autostrada (Belvedere) - search for it through Siracusa 'Belvedere'. See it early morning if possible (often open before the publicised 9 - 1900) and the 'dig' teams start early.
