All of the Renaissance greats are represented at the Uffizi - a must for any art lover visiting Florence. Arrive early or late, make reservations, and dress comfortably. If going in the summer dress light - there is spotty air conditioning at best and its hot in there! Still worth the trouble! more

Definitely reserve tickets; it costs a bit more but is worth it. It is unreasonable and unfair to complain about the line at Uffizi. Any traveler who has taken a few minutes to research Florence would know they must purchase tickets in advance. the line for people who didn't have reservations was incredibly long, and did not move at all. they only move the line for people with reservations. Even though we had reservations we showed up 30mins early because you need to wait in a line to get the tickets which took 20mins and then once you have the tickets you need... more

Even with a reservation - which is kind of insulting, paying 8 bucks just to avoid a line - you are still swarmed by crowds inside the gallery.
