Fantastic museum that many don't even know about. Fascinating to learn how the Duomo was constructed and to see some of the other artwork from the Duomo now stored there. Never crowded, open on Mondays when other main museums are closed. Definitely worth it. More

Well, I was very disappointed because the bronze doors from the Baptistry were being restored so were out of exhibit. But what was there was very impressive. I had not been in the museum in years and it has been through much renovation and improvements. Worth doing but maybe at the bottom of the priority list if the doors are... More

Florence is home to the Renaissance and many interesting museums. Among them is the not-to-be missed Museo dell'Opera del Duomo which is just behind the Duomo (cathedral). The museum is home to a haunting yet beautiful wood sculpture by Donatello of Mary Magdalene. Also, you will find the original doors to the Baptistry in this museum. The doors on the... More

Well organized and displayed material allows you to "fill in the blanks" of the Duomo's walls and really understand what the Cathedral was like when it was at its peak. Really brings San Marco back to life. More

We went into the museum not knowing that the doors were out of the museum for repair. Very dissappointing. More

The museum is a converted series of workshops used by Michelangelo and Brunelleschi, very modern and well lighted. The collection is excellent and very accessible, affording close views of architectural details that would not be visible otherwise. Michelangelo's incomplete sculpture for his own tomb is housed there, as are some of the models and tools used to build the Duomo's... More

Great audio guides, excellent presentation (not too much, not to little), uncrowded. I thought the Pieta was marvelous More

Overall it was okay I think there are other museums worth paying for before this one. If your on a budget this is a place to skip out on and save your euro. More

Liked: historical perspective of Duomo, models of works in the cathedral, information about how architectural features were created, modernity of museum, and its reasonable size and scope. There was nothing I disliked about this museum. More

This museum should really be crowded, but it wasn't. It has amazing treasures, including Donatello's astounding Magdalene wooden sculpture and the unfinished Pieta of Michelangelo. The guards are enormously friendly and helpful, eager to share their love of the museum's contents with visitors who ask. A true treasure not to be missed. More
