This convent is located near the Piazza of San Marco, a couple of blocks away. It is located just outside of the touristic zone and at time of our visit, we were the only people inside. This was the first thing we did in Florence. It is a very atmospheric place with Castagno's wonderful fresco of the Last Supper dominating the refectory. Good informative signage, free leaflet and free entrance and best of all you often have the place to yourself. Don't miss it.

I studied art history, so for me it was must-see. But I'd recommend it to everybody. The reason is the refectory with "Last Supper" by Andrea del Castagno, one of the great artists of renaissance in Florence. It's immense and impressive!
