Old, old church. Photos are not allowed inside. Construction began in the 1390s. Contains Brunelleschi's Old Sacristy which has some beautiful shades of blue still vivid in it. The facade is unfinished (Michelangelo drew up plans to decorate it, but never got the chance) but inside it is lavishly decorated. Visited Florence June 21-24, 2005. Extremely impressive dome which is a must see. Unfortunately, restoration limited our enjoyment. Unexpected entrance fee to a church but well worth it. more
