The San Marco convent is a 15th century religious complex that housed Dominican friars such as Fra Angelico and the domineering Savonarola. There are several beautiful frescos painted by Fra Angelico, who understood symmetry, light and perspective. While the church of San Marco is much like many other Florentine churches (including beggars at the door and irritating tourists using flash despite notices requesting no photography), the museum next door is a delight.
