The Palazzo Pfanner is not easy to locate, but it is well worth the effort. The garden is lovely. You can spot it from the walls, but it is much lovelier when you are actually in the garden. The house is interesting.

Small Palazzo with lovely garden, worth a visit to sit and take a few moments to enjoy the sunshine in peace and quiet.

Our map was very wrong when it came to showing the location of these gardens, which are right inside the walls. Even people in the neighborhood were not able to give us good directions. Just under the ramparts of Lucca you will find the see wonderful gardens - they are small but have many interesting features - the fountains and lemon groves are my favourites. You do not have to visit the house if you don't want to and the entrance to gardens only is very reasonable.

Having visited some of the more famous palaces in Florence, where you can walk for ages along interminable corridors with interminable suites of (beautiful) paintings, palazzo Pfanner comes as a nice surprise. It is small, easy to absorbe in one go, the guide knowlegeable and charming, the gardens harmoniously decorated with XVIII century statues and contemporary lemon trees.

We had hoped to see what a real palazzo was like--day in the life of a Luccan. Were disappointed to only be able to go in 5 rooms, and most were medical exhibits, which, albeit interesting, were not quite as we had hoped.

Very beautiful architecture. More recent than the other palazzi in Lucca. Great garden. Exhibit on first floor only. Would have liked to visit the other floors too

No wow factor for me although the garden inside the city walls with its statuary makes it stand out by comparison with others
