We didn't have nearly enough time to visit due to time constraints on our cruise ship tour. I can't wait to go back. It was magnificent. I can't wait to come back and spend more time.

I went to Pisa, while I was staying in Florence. It's approximately 50 minutes by train, and the train runs every hour or so. Be aware that the train looks horrible, compared to the fast train that connects Milano-Firenze-Rome-Napoli. Once you get to the Pisa station, it still looks gloomy, and you need to walk about 20 minutes before you...

The crowd is massive already early morning. If you don't have pre-purchased ticket, there is a small chance to go up in the tower on the same day in main season.

So much has been said and written about it. I was disappointed by the fact that it is surrounded by buildings and houses and very touristy. I guess that has to be expected.

The tower is stunning, and it leans quite a lot! We first saw it on a rainy cold evening, with few tourists, and it was gorgeous despite the weather! We returned the next day in glorious sunshine, and it sparkled in the sun, very clean and shiny. There were a lot of tourists, and people trying to sell things, which...

This time we had the time (and access) to walk up to the top. That is a fairly energetic climb up the tilted tower steps and really can mess up one's sense of balance. But the view from the top is worth it.
